  2. You’re correct in that the rake taken by online poker rooms is generally pretty comparable across the board; however, it doesn’t have to be that way.

The majority of popular online poker rooms (excluding PokerStars and, to an extent, Party Poker) allow “rakeback” in one form or another. Many online poker affiliates are paid on a commission-style basis. A portion of the rake generated for the life of a player who signs up through an affiliate is paid back to that affiliate, usually on a monthly basis.

Many online poker affiliates are “rakeback” affiliates, paying a significant portion of their monthly “commissions” back to their loyal players. The industry-average tends to be around 30% paid back to the player monthly. Depending on what stakes you play and how many hands you play per month, this can add up to a nice chunk of change. I personally receive between $3,000 and $5,000 per month in rakeback, playing 70,000+ hands of $3/$6 limit hold’em. Regardless, no matter what stakes you play or what your hand-volume is, rakeback is essentially free money and you should not be playing without it.

There are many reputable rakeback affiliates in the industry, and you can find many of them, along with their current rakeback offers, in the RakeBreakers rakeback affiliate directory. The majority of affiliates listed there have been highly-rated by their customers, and you can also view customer testimonials which should help you choose the affiliate you are most comfortable doing business with.

Keep in mind, however, that if you already have any account at a poker room (Bodog, for example), that it will be difficult, if not impossible, to get a new account there with a rakeback affiliate. Feel free to contact any of the affiliates to see what your options are, if any. Regardless, there are many other great poker rooms out there that offer rakeback, welcome U.S. players and spread Omaha games, such as Full Tilt, UltimateBet and Absolute Poker, just to name a few.

I hope this helps. If you have any other questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact me.

  3. Bodog is the worst poker site ever! FullTilt ALL THE WAY!!!!!!!!! Phil Ivey plays at FullTilt. Most of the pros are at FullTilt.

  4. If you play the $.25/$.50 limit tables the rake could be as much as $3 for like a $20 pot.. If you play $1000/$2000 limit the rake would still be $3 max, but the pot could be well over $100,000.. Play the highest stakes and you will get the lowest rake.. It’s as simple as that.
